The opening of a new children’s library at the Sirima Bo Daham School of the Sri Bhodhirukkaramaya temple, Rathmalana, on 5th October 2008, is another step achieved by the CUP Organization under its all-Island Project to establish Children’s Libraries to enhance the reading habit among children. The Little Library was named as Siri Nanisuru Poth Gula.

The Sisu Diriya scholarship scheme of CUP has found a benefactor to assist little Rasika from Imbulgoda. Rasika will receive a monthly allowance from Mr. Harsha Gomes (Member – CUP) for educational purposes.

The opening of a new children’s library at the Sri Nandasara Daham school of the Shaila Bimbaramaya temple, Imbulgoda, on 27th September 2008, marks another stride achieved by the CUP Organization under its all-Island Project to establish Children’s Libraries to enhance the reading habit among children. The Little Library was named as Sri Nandasara Poth Gula.

Ms. Devmini Serasinghe, has come to sponsor Chandima of Dihiwala for her studies. The first installment of this donation was handed over at CUP Office, Bolalesgamuwa on the 23rd of August 2008. Devmini’s parents and Chandima’s father participated for the occasion.

The concept of “Singithi Pothgula” (little library) was introduced by CUP, in order to improve the reading habits among children. This Little Library is organized by CUP in collaboration with Room to Reed Sri Lanka.The introductory program for the library leaders and members was held at Ihala Yagoda Shaila Bimbaramaya temple by the CUP Team, Ms.N.T.A.Dissanayake, Mr.D.G.B.M.Abeygunawardana and Mr.H.Gomes on the 16th of August 2008.

Sinhala and Hindu New Year celebrations were held at Alenmethiniyarama Temple, Polhengoda on the 20th of April. This event was funded by the Sanasili Foundation and organized by the Children's Upliftment Programme. Members of the KIRULA LAMA SAMAJAYA and the children of the Kirulapone area were the participants of these festivities..

A new IT Centre for the children of Colombo South was declared open on the 20th of April at Rathanaarama Temple, Polhengoda. This project is funded by Bosath Childrens' Education Foundation.
